Transforming HR at Mammoet: Navigating Seven Key Areas for Success.

What does the world need from you? And what is holding you back from delivering that?

The incoming CHRO of Mammoet asked us to help shape the new HR Purpose, Ambition and Ways of working within the organisation. Within that scope, identify the mindset and behaviours that might be holding the team back from being successful.

Every team has an inherent purpose it wants to manifest within the organisation. Just as every organ in a human body has a function, so does every cell. A successful team is a simple equation: the right people, in the right place, with the right resources.

There are seven areas we explore when we’re working with an organisation or a team.

  1. Vision - when everything is perfect, this is what the world (organisation) will look like

  2. Mission - the areas we will focus on to deliver our mission

  3. Strategy - how we overcome the obstacle that stands in the way of delivering our mission

  4. People - the magic that delivers the above

  5. Guiding Principles - the unique set of behaviours and beliefs that shape how we work together

  6. Purpose - the foundation of everything we do is the reason we exist

  7. Past - where we have come from and what came before must be acknowledged and taken forward with us

We worked closely with the CHRO and her management team to frame an approach that would fit within the expectations and resources of the organisation and deliver the required results.

What We Did

We ran two off-sites for the global HR teams, where we explored several topics:

  1. We used Lego Serious Play to explore the shared purpose of the team

  2. We used the OKR (Objective Key Results) format to define what the team wants to achieve and how they would measure success

  3. We used Somatics Decision Making to divide responsibilities - team members were asked to work on the Objectives they ‘needed’ to be on.

  4. We used Constellations to export the team dynamics and undercurrents.

  5. We used exercise to bring to the surface some of the challenges and paradoxes of working globally and locally.

  6. We created moments to talk openly about team changes, saying goodbye and welcoming new people.

As well as six days of offsites, we supported the CHRO, individuals and local teams with resources, coaching and as a sounding board.

Ben supported the HR Leadership Team in our journey to identify and formulate the HR strategy, story, and purpose. He facilitated a series of offsites and interventions that defined our strategy and made us closer and work better as a team.

Ben brings refreshing and out-of-the-box insights and exercises and is an excellent facilitator, bringing humour, energy, and inspiration. I’d highly recommend him.
